Since 1981 The Brain People have been making records. Their starting point was improvised Punk but performed on an acoustic guitar, another acoustic guitar with only four strings (amplified), a suitcase organ and a drum set consisting of a snare and a small cymbal attached to the stand. From there the band experimented with everything from effects, synthesizers, acoustic instruments from all over the world and even with home made and custom experimental musical instruments.

The band consists of Tommy DOG who is the creative leader and bass player, Leon mushroom who reluctantly plays guitar and saxophone and Col. Plague Monkey who plays drums and played organ until it was blown up by mistake while shooting video footage in 1983.

Today the process of making records has changed. The band never plays together in the same room, in fact all three of the members of The Brain People have not been in the same room with each other since New Years Eve 1990.

For the band to continue to release new music Tommy DOG takes recordings of the other two band members, usually improvising alone and cuts their performances into new molded music. When that process is done bass and other live instrumentation is added. New recordings of Leon Mushroom and Plague Monkey are made on a semi annual basis and the rest of the time Tommy DOG is the only person actively involved in the process until the final release.
